Silicon Valley VC Announced as Chairman of the Board for Irish Online Tech Publisher

New Tech Post, an Irish online publisher of daily tech articles, has announced the appointment of Richard A. Moran as Chairman of the Board for the company.

Rich Moran is a San Francisco-based venture capitalist, social scientist, author and evangelist for organization effectiveness. He has over 25 years experience in Silicon Valley, and has worked as a Partner in Accenture and Venrock. Rich is a General Partner in Irish Technology Capital (ITC), a VC fund for both startups and existing businesses in Ireland and Silicon Valley.

As well as Moran, the management team of New Tech Post includes: founding director John Breslin, NUI Galway academic and co-founder of boards.ie; Tom Murphy, Emmy award-winning video journalist; John Hartnett, President of the Irish Technology Leadership Group and former SVP with Palm; and John Stanton, President of the Irish Innovation Center where New Tech Post has its Silicon Valley base.

John Hartnett says: "We are delighted that Rich Moran will bring his experience as a corporate director and VC to New Tech Post as we build on its continuing success. New Tech Post's readership doubled in less than six months this year, and we want to strengthen this communications bridge between Silicon Valley and Ireland/Europe."

Editor of the New Tech Post, Tom Murphy, says: "We believe that New Tech Post's strong point is its dedication to creating quality content, both text articles and videos. Content is fresh, reliable, and a great deal of effort goes into thorough research and gaining access to the original source of a story. We operate to the same standards as major broadsheets and broadcasters."

Established in 2010, New Tech Post has published nearly 500 articles on emerging technologies, with a particular focus on drawing global attention to Irish technology. The site has interviewed a range of tech visionaries including Harald Haas, TED speaker and creator of a light-based alternative to WiFi; Dylan Collins, computer games entrepreneur; Carlos Dominguez, senior vice president with Cisco Systems; and Iain MacDonald, founder of expert finding service SkillPages. Rich Moran writes a regular series of articles for New Tech Post on how to create Irish entrepreneurs (1, 2, 3).

Moran is also known for his series of humorous “business bullet” books, and his latest book, "Sins and CEOs", was published in 2011. The book looks at the challenges of making the right decisions in a highly complicated world where CEOs are under pressure to please everyone from Wall Street analysts to their board members, employees, suppliers, customers and even their own families. He will be in Ireland next month as part of the ITLG's Silicon Valley Comes to Ireland 2011 delegation.
